Default Advice for Crossing English Channel

On another forum (dealing with the toy boats I sail) a member has been appealing for advice on crossing the Channel.

Navigation, weather etc. is generally well covered in that forum. One member however pointed out that the French authorities can be a little tough on small boat handlers.

Both crew members will probably be British citizens and plan to do a bit of coastal exploring.

Regards

I'm not certain what kind of problems you expect to encounter - we've never had any crossing from England to France or Holland. Your profile indicates you are not an EU national so you'll need to fly the Q flag as required going from one EU country to another - and then ensure you complete entry formalities with immigration and police. Normally you'll get advice on where to go from the harbour authorities on arrival.

If you are an EU national and do not have other non-EU crew, you need do nothing on arrival. Our entry process is - tie up - go pay your harbour / marina fee - and go get some Moules and frites with a cold beer.

Cheers

JOHN
