Beds, bunks and berths.
Every now and again it becomes necessary to change one's mattresses. I always spend time considering the next generation of bed and usually end up merely replacing what is already there.
What is there is a compromise and not nearly as comfortable as the sleepmaster gem Mk1 installed in the standard home bedroom. I can't use innersprings because of the odd shape of the boat's berths. So, I usually end up making a composite with two separate densities of foam, topped with a 2" thickness of memory foam.
All this has traditionally sat on a matrix which looks like an industrial polishing pad.
Are there any advancements in boat beds which would be more effective, without being too much more expensive, that I haven't been made aware of?
Indeed, is anyone using an alternate system which you think may be more comfortable than the system I traditionally use?
