Default Fiji New Zealand passage SSB

Is there an established SSB frequency and schedule for the passage between Fiji Tonga and New Zealand
If not please join me
Suggestion is 8143 each morning at 0800 hrs (ust PLUS 1300) NZ Fiji time
Lets help each other with position course and speed and widen our comfort zone
Spread the word
Thanks
julian

You're a long way from Suffolk.

I don't know anything about the 'skeds' from your current location but I am sure other crusiers will let you know what is out there. Meanwhile, the more people out there talking to each other, the better; so good on you for starting a new net.

I'm planning to do the crossing next year so perhaps we will have the chance to yak about the 2013 Ashes tour on the SSB at that stage. Are you on a circumnavigation? Please tell us your cruising story.

By the way, isn't it a nice touch the way people in some countries chill their beer before drinking it.

Norfolk not Suffolk but what do i care it was 12 years ago when I started cruising. I have been living aboard boats ever since. See my site liveaboardsailing.com where I invite people to share this lifestyle. I cant think of anything else I would like to do. new crew aboard and I have been musing over what would happen if or even when the stuff hits the fan (world war and all that) wouldn't it be best to be living aboard a boat

There usually is a mass exodus from Tonga /Fiji/New Caledonia back to Oz and New Zealand about this time Oct to Dec. There are rally groups and others that have nets all throught the South Pacific cruising season. I'm surprised you haven't gleaned any info during your passages from the Maraquesas to Fiji. Ask around as there is a good guy named Dez out of Russell/Opua NZ that has a number of skeds each day with many boats checking in and giving weather updates. I left the South Pacific years ago but never had trouble finding SSB and Ham nets in the area.
