Default Foul Weather Gear

I will be cruising the South Pacific or Caribbean this winter as volunteer crew and need to purchase a foul weather jacket. I am willing to invest some $ in something durable, dry and comfortable; something that will last and be of use in colder climates as well.

Any suggestions on makes and models? I figure I should be looking for something with neoprene cuffs and neck... bright colors... sturdy hood... gore tex? rubber? I'm currently near Toronto, Ontario, in Canada.

thanks in advance for any advice

fair winds, sunny skies,

scott

Scott,

Stick with the well known brands.. ie Musto Helly Hanson. They have done a lot of research into comfy ,well breathing, warm,[ waterproof gear... so buy the best you can afford.

Why just the jacket.. you will need pants and seaboots also.

Not sure what you mean by " winter " presume you are talking Canada time, hence you will be down here ( South Pacific) in Summer. Better sailing and hopefully not a lot of wet weather gear required . But then again I have struck some bad times out there.

Remember TONS of sunblock ( we use pink zink a lot)
