Liberty 28?

Anybody have any experience with the Liberty 28's?... I just came across this one and it looks like just about my ideal boat.

Looks a nice boat - It would be interesting to see what the broker means by :-

"A little elbow grease will make this an enviable single-handed passage maker. "

It could turn out to be the statement of the year. ( Sorry to be a little cynical )

not at all.... this one does seem a bit under priced... I have found several of the same boat now and they are all about 10K more expensive, which still isn't a lot, and they all look more prestine... i'd probably just opt for the slightly more expensive in better shape boat so that you don't have to worry about hidden problems....

I can't believe no one had any actualy experience with these boats.

I have never heard of this boat before. I live in Sweden, and they are perhaps non-existing outside the US?

Anyway, since no one else comes in for you I might as well give you my 2 cents.

The boat looks really nice - I am définetely biased towards these full keeeled boats - great cruising boats IMHO with seakindly motion. Easy to make work with wind vanes etc.

What I do not quite like is the interior. To me, it lloks home-built or something, it lacks that 'boat' look. Lots of sharp corners, and what I could tell from the pics, awkward stowing (correct word?) i e cupboards etc.

As I said, just my two cents. Aren't there an owners association or something that you could get in contact with?

I would have to agree with maxiswede. Whilst the interior woodwork looks to be excellent it does have lots of "hard spots". It looks as if it has been built by a carpenter or a very experienced woodworker but not a shipwright. If you do go for it then do something about the sharp corners before they do something about you.

The designe looks good - in fact very much in the tradition of many Scandnavian boats. You might want to take a look at some of them too as boat prices in the Baltic region are often very reasonable compared with the rst of the world. Also, you will find that most boats in this area have been used only for a few months per year and are consequently in good shape for their age.

I would suggest you start by looking at an OE32, Vagabond, Laurin Koster, Storfidra, etc. The down side of it is that should you decide to go for a boat here then it would be on the wrong side of the pond!

Just a thought or two.
