Hi Stephen,

I followed suit and got one myself from a petrol station for only Eu5 - and can warrant it was still working early dawn - albeit dimmest.

Maybe mine was a newer lamp than yours - who knows? Suspect they all come out of same factory in China somewhere.

But as you've seen - the light emission from the garden downlights is pitiful as these things only have one small LED. There is no way they even come close to meeting any nav lamp regulation standards.

But as it did not consume the boats amperage and was effective close range, practically it worked fine in the crowded anchorages we haunted last year.

As I've said, I know many lamp manufactueres are close to selling fully compliant LED lamps and when they do at a reasonable price I'll definately get them - but in the meantime I've sourced a 6 'bright LED' version of the globe which fit into my current masthead anchor lamp (Aquasignal 40).

Whilst this 6 LED globe light emission is still not legally bright enough to meet EU regulations, it will save us heaps of power this coming summer and I'm expecting it to be 20 times better than the garden lamp!

If it isn't - I'll let you know.
