Default Parasail Spinnaker

Does anyone have experience flying one of these new parasail spinnakers?

http://www.istec.ag/?main=produkte&s...ailor2&lang=en

I'd like to hear how they compare to a gennaker for cruising.

I asked the same question a couple of months ago. Since then I´ve added one to the boat I´m currently delivering. I haven´t had a chance to fly it yet but will let you know how it goes when I do. Unbiased review from one owner (see www.ssca.org discussion on sails) was very positive. Not too many magazine reviews of it so far, but the company claims 40 of the ARC rally participants will be using them.

Thanks for the reply! I've been trying to get first hand evaluation of performance from several other forums, and thus far have received no replies.

I first read about the sail on Noonsite reporting on the start of the ARC race:

<font color="blue">The Oyster 56, Stealer VI, put on an impressive display as they powered through the fleet, flying their newly purchased Parasailor2 winged spinnaker, one of at least 20 such sails in the fleet this year. Boo-Tiger were keeping to their boat's theme and flying a tiger striped gennaker, complete with paw print, whilst the animal motif was continued by Duckwall Pooley, proudly flying a Scottish Royal Lion on their spinnaker.</font id="blue">

Parasailor doesn't have any reps in the US yet from what I can gather on their web site.

No reps on the North American side of the pond as far as I could tell. Their english language rep is:

Thomas Wibberenz

Points of Sail - Segeln individuell

Hermann-Rennerstrasse 12

22609 Hamburg

Germany

Tel.: +49 40 82 40 09

Fax: +49 40 82 33 62

mobile: +49 171 68 24 011

Otherwise their marketing seems to be exclusively in Europe. But they did ship to us here in the Caribbean - with a few minor shipping problems (sail was ¨lost¨for a few days).

I haven´t had a chance to try it yet, but I plan to do a review when I do. It looks quite cool laid out on the ground. :-)

here is the link to the discussion on the SSCA : http://64.70.221.24/DiscBoard/viewtopic.php?t=763

The gentleman posted a few pictures of the sail in action which are quite impressive too...

I like what I'm seeing and hearing! I was working with North to build me a gennaker, but now I think I'm going to take a serious look at the Parasail first. Could you give me an idea of the cost?

Sail is a bit pricey. We got a 105 sq meter sail, plus sock at around 5000 euro ($6000USD)including shipping to the caribbean.

May be worth reading the ARC logs on their site (www.worldcruising.com)as it seems some of the issues one can have with a regular spinnaker also happen with these new sails.
