Default Tide Apps

I have been using Ayetides on my iPhone and iPad for years and it has been fantastic, with world tides held locally on the device in a database. It was the first app I ever bought, and it was on the day that the iPhone 3 was released in Australia. At the time it was close to the most expensive app on the Apple App Store, and I have never regretted the purchase.
Sadly now I have decided to change platforms to Android, as I had decided to do the next time I had to get a new phone - I just don't want pay the Apple tax anymore - and my iPhone was stolen yesterday.

My problem now is to replace Ayetides with something as good on the Android platform, and it does have to have a local database as we are often out of Internet range when we need tide information.

We are currently cruising SE Asia.

Any suggestions as to a great tide app on Android? It doesn't have to be free, it is likely to be my most used app if good. Fortunately I can still use Ayetides on my iPad, but would be good to have a good app on the phone as well.

Hi Marramarra. Have a look at Googles Play Store - there are a lot of
tide Apps there. One possibility is to go with a Navionics charting package, which includes tides a week or so in advance. You can get the SE Asia Navionics charts for Android for a quite reasonable price.

Incidently, I just bought a new Andriod phone, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, here in Kuching. Not cheap, but a beautiful phone.

Yep, I use the Navionics app for tides all the time. There are some good tutorials on how to use tides in the app on youtube but the short version is:
1. within the app click menu
2. click weather and tides
3. Click tides
4. select the tide station you want to use (usually I just select the closest one ... they are listed in order of proximity to your current location). You can also select other locations if you want
5. click the stack icon that pops up on the tide station. This will display a diagram of the tides. If you just want to see a list click the "Details" link
