Default Trip from Fort Lauderdale to ?

We recently purchased a 2010 45 foot Cranchi in Fort Lauderdale. We live in Minnesota, and would like to take a family trip with our new boat before we ship it back to MN. The seller has agreed to captain the boat for us as part of orientation. We have 5 days. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do/where to go? Our kids are 8, 7 and 4. We are thinking of Nassau. The Atlantis Resort costs more than we want to spend, so we were thinking of doing a Dolphin Encounter through Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon Island. Are there any other hotels that we can just pay to use their facilities, but stay overnight on the boat so as not to incur the cost of a hotel room? Do we need to book these hotels in advance? How much does it usally cost at the marinas in the Bahamas? We are going August 10 - 14, 2013. Any recommendations or suggestions you have are appreciated. Thank you!

If time is short and you want to make the most of your trip to Nassau with the kids, I suggest you stay at the Atlantis Marina for two nights. The published rates are not always the charged rates, especially considering the state of the economy and that it is off season. Call to negotiate a lower rate. The cost of the marina will more than offset the fee to enter their water parks, beaches, aquarium and the like.

Thank you for your suggestion Jim. I had previously called on the rates for Atlantis and you are right, the activities were very expensive. It didn't occur to me to negotiate. Good tip. I just found out today that Hurricane Hole Marina located next to Atlantis has much more reasonable marina rates and offers 1/2 price rates for the amentities at Atlantis. I think we will go that route. Do you think it is too much jumping around if we stay in Bimini for a night, Nassau for 2 nights, the Exumas for 2 nights, and back to Bimini for 1 night?
