Default W. Caribbean charts, guides, flags, advice etc.

Hi All,

We hoping to be heading from N Fla. to San Blas Islands this Fall. Still undecided whether to go Bahamas-Jamaica-Panama or Key West-Mexico-Honduras-Belize-Panama. Looking for current charts, guides etc. Advice is more than welcome.
My wife and I have been in the Bahamas the last three fall/winter/springs
and are looking to expand our cruising range in search of surfing/snorkeling/serenity.
Thanks,
Corbett and Robin

Welcome aboard. I've not sailed in the Caribbean so can't personally assist you with knowledge. There are others here who have and should come along shortly. I wouldn't be doing the western route that you suggest, but that's just me.

Fair winds,

Oops, forgot to mention that you should search around here on the forums for your route info. Also--here's a topic http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/f12...-pdf-2152.html that includes a link to free pilot charts for the various oceans. You can use the pilot charts in terms of planning.

Why not Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, USVI, BVI, and then on down island .... Of course there IS that long westward sail to get back over to Panama!

I don't know the area, but since buying a Kindle, I have discovered that a quick search shows a lot of sailing and cruising related titles; many of which are specific to geographic locations.
Your trip will be brilliant. I'm envious.
