Default Which website best displays earth's tradewinds?

I'm looking for a comprehensive website or number of sites tailored to sailors depicting earth's tradewinds, hurricane seasons, and recommended cruising routes. Any favourites?

Cheers,

Scott

For route planning, you need either Jimmy Cornell's World Sailing Routes, or the British Admiralty book. These show, by month, the winds, direction, force, etc. I don't know of a web site that has such comprehensive information.

I am away from my computer and so cannot access my links to the NOAA weather sites and the tropical cyclone sites. However, a quick Google search will provide you with many links. NOAA, http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ for Atlantic and Eastern Pacific hurricanes, for example.

G'day,

go here http://pollux.nss.nima.mil/pubs/pubs_j_apc_list.html

The pilot charts are monthly by region and show wind, currents, waves etc. They are free unlike Admiralty.

Regards

Mike

Scott,

Look at ….http://www.sewhgpgc.co.uk/met.html

or…..http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/

or….http://www.oceanweather.com/data/Aus...ion/index.html

On the last one , pick the region you wish to explore, I have opened OZ , hence the reference. THey all take a bit of exploring , but each offers a mine of info. Some of which may answer your original question

Don´t know about this electronic stuff but I have a set of paper charts published by the Defence Mapping Agency, USA which are incredably detailed. Five sets - North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian Ocean. Each set has twelve charts, one per month, and they split the oceans into rectangles 5 degrees by 5 degrees and give a mind boggling amount of info for each
