I agree that a moving deterent is the best... when the wind genny is turning there isn't a bird on the boat...

Oh yes! Never thought of that! The birds must have learned, though: Way back in 1992 in the Bertagne (France) a gull wanted to visit us and several times tried to choose the (running) wind gen to land on . It was a little hard to convince the bird that this could be very unhealthy... . It finally decided to sit on the dinghi.

We have a wind gen since 1991 and we never had problems with big birds on deck. BUT we have those crows sitting on our windex once in a while, dropping nasty stuff on deck. It seems that the wind gen is too far away from the mast top.*

And we have small birds searching the deck for spiders and they are very welcome, because spiders droppings also belong to the stuff that is hard to remove (and impossible to remove from sails!!!)*
