Just Hope that SV Scappare took the time to read PIRATES !!!!

Although they may be able to outrun trouble makers - it is not worth the risk - If they had taken the route of least resistance ie : via Kuching = no probs and fuel available. Anyway wish them the best of luck.

Thanks everyone - we arrived safely in KK and had a great trip: We passed south of the Anambas Islands and north of Bunguran Island as we were expecting a bit more favorable winds further north. We headed straight east afterwards and then a bit up north to KK. It took us 7 days, but we did have the engine running for most of the time...

No major incident apart from a engine overheat and a couple fuel filters blocked. We were called on VHF by vessel "TEKINIK NIRVANA" which requested we change course somewhere around the Luconia oil fields - because they had a 9km long tow for seismic research....

Ran into a heavy coastal thunderstorm just off KK.

We are now planning to sail on to Kudat to have some work done there on the shipyard. Has anyone heard anything about it?

Will certainly talk to Jo and Noah. Planning to leave KK around Sep 30th and Kudat later that week. I have been in contact with the boatyard there (friendly and quick replies!) but was wondering if anyone knows exactly where the yard is? I have posted a picture of a google map here: http://flickr.com/photos/joschmaltz/2881361210/ - can you point out the location?

Cheers

Jo
