Our beloved "Love Me Tender" was stolen last Friday night. It's my own fault.

Has anyone shopped around for a good deal in the region between Trinidad and Panama? I know Caribe builds good RIB's in Venezuela and AB's are now built in Colombia... but what about duty free prices on outboard engines?

I'm looking for the best deal on a new Caribe L-11 and Yamaha 15 two stroke.

Suggestions?

To Life!

Kirk

What a lousy stroke of luck Kirk! Hope you find a replacement soon.

Hi Kirk,

What a Bummer !!! Here are Caribe's distributors in the Caribbean.

----

I see that Corsa Marine has a couple of distributers in Trinadad.

----

Not sure if one can buy directly from the Factory in Venezuela.

It might be possible to buy from ISLAND WATER WORLD

ST. MAARTEN, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES

Check their site :- www.islandwaterworld.com

BUT collect it in Caracas - Venezuela ?????

Thanks, Richard.

"Lift It - Lock It - Or Loose It." is how nearly every radio net ends around these waters. I got lazy on the third night we were here... and failed to do the first two and succeeded in accomplishing the third. Our dinghy painter was cut as we slept.

I went looking for it today in a borrowed dink and was chased into the shelter of a yacht club by a water spout sucking the surface of the ocean up into the heavens!

Maybe that's where my yellow inflatable went...

Thanks for the info. One of the suppliers you mention is located nearby and I've sent two inquiries to Margarita, Venezuela - 90 miles west.

Plus - there's an abandoned one, holding air, back up in Grenada, which we've been granted permission to come adopt from one of the small marinas.

Lift It - Lock It - or Loose It... aye.

To Life!

Kirk

Even my part of the world , the admonition has been to Chain the Rottweiler to the engine and dinghy. Lots of boats use 5/16th stainless cable with swaged thimbles at each end padlocked - harder than chain to saw through.

I guess yellow is a good colour, at least there are not many like that.

Richard

P.S.

Kirk found a picture of a simple stainless steel attachment that I had made up to stop people

getting at the screw toggles on the O/Bs Bracket ;_

I have the Caribe with floor, and locker. I had the Caribe 9 with neither. I wish I had bought the 12 without floor, and locker. It's just easier to handle. My 15hp Mercury pushes the 12 fine. We have had a ton of human flesh in it against 2-3ft. chop, and we made it easily, although wet. With 500lbs, she will still plane.

If you run across a dirty rotten scoundrel from South Africa on a vessel name Leila. A light blue sloop with a split coach. Be sure to shake his hand, and say HI. His name being Ian. A true gentleman, and has been in Trinidad for several years now. He might be able to point you in a good direction for your hunt. I think he is going into a yard now......BEST WISHES in sorting out the misplaced dink......John from s/v Imagine, a red cat
