Sailboat Reboot - US Flagged

Boat size and type: Catalina 42 MK II Wing Keel

Embark Port: Along the track described above but not the Chesapeake Bay (going outside to Norfolk)

Estimated departure: Will leave St. Pierre after hurricane Earl (maybe also Fiona) and start for Norfolk, VA. Jacksonville FL until at least November 1st. Key West FL until about December 1st.

Arrival Port: Not sure, after Guatemala plans flexible. May return up coast or head out to Caymans, etc. Ultimate plan is to position Reboot for transatlantic spring/summer of 2011. I do not expect that you would necessarily sign on for the entire voyage.

Solo sailor, would consider up to 3 additional crew.

Duties: Stand watch, assist with boat maintenance, enjoy the trip. I expect that you would treat Reboot as your own. I will not expect you to do anything that I am not doing, but I would not expect you to say "I don't do that" if something needs fixing.

Requirements: Since I tend to sail offshore I expect that you will have some experience in transits of 5 to 20 days. I am open to reviewing your sailing resume no matter what your experience. I would not take someone aboard who has no offshore experience or whose experience is limited to port hopping each day. I expect you to have some form of personal medical insurance.

Cost to join vessel etc. - paid by you

Estimated share contribution: $10 to $20 USD per day; you pay for your booze, smokes, and entertainment.

Additional information: I smoke - trying to quit but I am not very successful. I have a cat on board, he is very social and will want to sit on you, have you pay attention, etc. He can be very demanding of attention. I drink in moderation in port only and will not tolerate drinking underway or when preparing to get underway. My modus operandi is to travel port to port frequently to SCUBA, visit local historical sites, and spend time with the local people.

You can get a great deal of background about me by reading my blog at http://rebootracing.blogspot.com and following the links. I would expect you to do this before you get in touch with me. I can be reached by replying to this message or at rebootagent atsign gmail dot com.
