This is a touchy subject in some places of the United States, and I am not opening it here to start any flame wars or insult anyone. Although I disagree with our country's policy towards Cuba, I am not interested in making accusations or getting into an argument about my country's present political stance.

However, considering how close Cuba is to the U.S., and, from what I've heard from others, what a great place it was and still is for a cruising yacht to visit, I am posting a link to an organization that is interested in resuming open relations with Cuba. You can do with it as you wish.

Not a touchy subject at all. Cuba is the real paradise East Coast cruisers have been waiting for. It is insane that US "Embargo" et al. still exists. As they say: "the leaders of our free world are just little boys throwing stones"...lucky for anyone that has been denied travel to this rich and fascinating island nation we now have folk at the helm of gov't with a realistic and open-minded perspective. I have already purchased charts...fair winds! Yes, Open Cuba!

Yes, go for it and fair winds. I read everything I can about Cuba and would love to be able to join your fleet. But its a long way from cold, windy, rainy, Bellingham, WA. I guess I will have to take a 747.

...Yes. The 747 will sail to windward nicely...via Canada, Mexico, DR, Jamaica until Congress gets off their collective butts and repeal all the atavistic laws that precluded unfettered travel (for US citizens).
