Default SEA CLEAR Navigation

A program called Sea Clear II is a free download off the web and with it comes a world map and a couple of others but with no detail. Has anyone found detailed charts of the western Pacific anywhere that are available to download. I'm not asking for a pirated copy of anything but it seems that with the program and some usable charts I can at least do some coarse planing.

Hope for some help in this area as I'm presently using my GPS with cartridges and they are so expensive especially when you find they don't quite cover the planed area!!

Regards to all

American Territories (Samoa, Palmyra, etc) can be downloaded for free in ENC or Raster ENC formats from

http://chartmaker.ncd.noaa.gov/

In fact the entire US is free. For all other countries you have to pay.

I recommend you do not use the NZ enc's. You can purchase electronic charts in many different formats. If you are using PC based navigation (like Fugawi) then I recommend "softcharts". It will run the free ENC's and a bunch of other formats. Otherwise you'll be forced to use the overpriced proprietary charting of whatever brand of chartplotter you have, Garmin being the worst for the South Pacific.
