It is with great sadness and sense of loss that I convey the news that Fred passed away this morning. Deepest condolences to his wife, family and MANY friends.

MANY cruisers that have sailed the Indian Ocean and passed through Durban will have fond memories of him. He was one of the most helpful people I know.

RIP Fred.

Oh what Sad news !!! Fred Meyer a friend for many years - how often we spent time together on the air waves.

He was always there - especially when we had cruisers in trouble at sea.

Bob if you are in contact with the family please pass on my condolences.

Richard

Fred was truly one of the greatest assets to cruising sailors. His years of experience with the difficult weather conditions in SA, and his calm, practical routing advice and all the help he gave so willingly to cruisers, will be sorely missed. As old friends, we extend our condolences to Eva and the rest of his family, we will miss him.
