Hi Everybody,

My name is Guy and I sail with my wife Annika on an MG RS34. We're in Malaysia right now and have been out cruising 11 years.

the plan is to cross the Indian Ocean and head up the Red Sea after Christmas so I wanted to post some information on the SE Asia forum. Unfortunately I only seem to be able to post here and I haven't got hours to work out why - we've got a boat to work on!

Here's what I wanted to say, so if anyone fancies copying it over for me to save time - thanks so much. I'll try the Wiki too.

Guy

Northern Indian Ocean Radio Net - Malaysia & Thailand, Indian Ocean and Red Sea

We’re setting up an informal SSB radio net for yachts to share information and weather, aid communications and provide mutual help. We’re also compiling a list of yachts with approximate itineraries, cruising speeds etc. Please email us to be put on the list and to get updated times and frequencies.

The provisional time and frequencies are as follows:

00**hrs UTC (0)))am in Malaysia, 0))))am Thailand - to be adjusted as we move west)

8*** USB (a marine SSB frequency, so no Ham licence needed)

The net will start on Wednesday 18th November 2009. This will give people a chance to try out their radios and to see if this frequency and time works. Also we can start to use the net as a forum to exchange information and ideas. We invite all yachts to participate – please give us a call and contribute.

Guy & Annika, yacht Street Legal

Email: guy.oury@rocketmail.com - or for quicker response, m0dpu@winlink.org

(for the latter, note that the 2nd character is ZERO not ‘oh’ and to get through the spam filter, insert //WL2K in the subject line). Please tell us your boat name, your name/s, flag, length, type, rough itinerary, speed under engine etc.

Guy and Annika,

I have moved you to this forum. Please PM me for further details regarding setting up a local net on that frequency.

Richard.
