Shipyard in Malacca Straits

Good Day,

I am looking for a shipyard to haul out anywhere in the strait of Malacca. The relatively new Pangkor Marina seems like a good choice but I heard rumor of serious rat infestation.
Batu Maung shipyard in Penang is also a good candidate but I am not sure of the quality I can expect.
Has any one got experience in either yard or anywhere else in the Area.

Have you looked at Raffles Marina in Singapore ?

Or Rebak Marina on the island and Langkawi in Malaysia? http://www.rebakmarina.com/rim_mrn_hdnf.html It has a 65-ton travel lift.

Hi Jeanne,

Raffles is a good choice and Jeffrey is someone not to be missed. My last haul out was in Raffles back in 2010. It is my fallback plan.
Rebak has raised their rate to 1.8 ringgit per foot per day + travel lift+ extra like scaffolding and being stuck on an island. Raffles is definitely better value.
If everything fails, Raffles will be my choice.

An update to an old topic.
We have just had 10 days on the hard at Pangkor Marina and it was a great experience. Got a lot done, had all the professional help we needed and the price wasn't bad (1.5RM per foot per day).
The Sealift is a good way to come out of the water, no problems with dropping forestays or anything like that.
James Khoo runs a pretty tight ship and I think the rat problem is ancient history. My only rather minor complaint would be about the quality of the ablutions area - its a bit too local for my taste.

A lot of people are hauling out for very extended periods while they travel or return home. There is a covered work area for up to around 10 boats where some pretty major work is being undertaken.

There are a number of excellent local businesses that understand yachtie needs. It helps that nearby Lumut is a naval base.

On top of this, there are a couple of nice anchorages at nearby Pangkor island.
