As at 15th November 07, in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria partying hard prior to ARC.

The ARC organisers have own site on which noon day positions and short daily blogs are posted.

ARC starts 25th November - 243 yachts from Las Palmas to St Lucia.

Enjoyed a speedy Atlantic crossing with the ARC. Actually got awarded 1st Place in Div A (Prime Ministers Trophy) by completing crossing in 16 days 1 hour. Good time cosidering route taken to avoid sad weather - and being only 3 up.

Then cruised down and back up island chain to end season with Antigua Race week in April 08.

Had to fly home in May so got Swagman sailed back using a delivery skipper.

She is now based out of south coast UK marina for the 08 winter and we plan to head for the Baltic next spring.

Thanks for the update John - you're sure putting on some mileage.

You must be looking forward to the Baltic.

Indeed I am.

In fact I alwasy enjoy looking forward to sailing away anywhere!

Seriously, we only returned UK side to sort out a new home and a few business issues, but family kinda grabs you like a magnet............so two months extends to ten!

Hoping to spend at least 2 months next year away crossing to Holland, Germany then Denmark, Sweden etc. My desire is to sail into Leningrad and tie up for a vodka but Sue prefers a slower pace - so not sure time will allow us to get there and back by August.

Following year plans should see us heading south once more - maybe for a year or more in S France or Croatia. We were well impressed with the Adriatic people / facilities when we slid though for a month a year last July.

And yes on miles covered.

Logged 25,000 miles since Swagman hit the water in 2004.

She'll maybe enjoy the break this winter.

Cheers

JOHN
