Hello members, we are a family of four from Australia, Al, Deb, Nikki and Layni. We have finally taken the plunge and purchased our own boat and the boat is currently on the hard at The Hamble Marina, near Southampton in the UK. The boat is called Sunboy and it is a 2007 launched Hanse 470e. As a family we have sailed the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, the Whitsunday Island Group in Australia, Coastal cruising along the east Coast from our home port of Coffs Harbour and recently did a 6 week cruise around Croatia. We are moving to be on board Sunboy in March this year where we will get the boat and crew ready, starting with some coastal cruising around the south of England and across to France before deciding where to head from there. We dont know how long we will being going for and have not made any real plans at this stage. Our girls are 14 and 9 so we will be doing distance education where possible and encouraging them to be active students in the school of life. We are very lucky to have made some great sailing friends so far who live in Europe, especially John and Sue from Swagman who have helped us get our boat and we are incredibly excited about our new life plans. Would love to hear from anyone sailing in Europe, especially those who may have children on board. We think it is a possibility that we will eventually sail home to Australia via the Panama and Pacific but not sure when that will be. Look forward to learning as much as we can from all of you who have been there before us.

The new crew of Sunboy

A hearty "Welcome Aboard" to Al, Deb, Nikki and Layni - what a great looking family, and, ALL sailors.

Great introduction - thank you. We know who you are now.

We hope to hear all about your boat (how about some pics) and your cruising - please keep us up to date.

Make yourselves at home here - grab a beer (or soft drinks for the family). You joined just in time - all drinks are on "Swagman" for the whole week - ENJOY!

Hi Guys,

A second welcome and don't mind lighthouse. He really meant to say he's happy to shout all of us a drink on his yacht - all we've got to do is get there!

See you soon

JOHN

Hi to you all,

just joined this site, so new to it all. We too are a family of 4, our girls are 16 & 13 years old, and our boat, No Doubt is based at Hamble Marina. When you come over to join your boat, do feel free to contact us and maybe we can share a drink/meal or whatever, and just catch up on sailing with kids etc. we are hoping to do the blue water sailing bit, in 5 years time when both of our girls will be off at university, unitl then its weekends and extended holidays for us.

take care

pat
