I am new to this forum, am 61, have been retired for six years, and spend summers on a 64 acre lake (Arnold) in upstate NY near Cooperstown. Have two kayaks at the present time. I had a 22' Venture/MacGregor berthed in Cooperstown on Otsego Lake a number of years ago. More recently I have helped friends on their 26' MacGregor on Oneida Lake, and have sailed on my brother and sister-in-law's 32 footer on the Magothy/Chesapeake Bay. I winter on the Gulf Coast of Florida near Englewood/Port Charlotte/Venice/Sarasota/Fort Meyers.
My wife is prone to motion sickness so I am not destined to acquire a sailboat anytime soon. I can cook well enough so as not to starve myself and others and am generally mechanically inclined and handy enough. I am a willing hand and more than willing to learn. I've been on and around boats since I was a toddler. I prefer to sail but am not averse to motorized craft.
I do have a passport but no certifications. I took the USCG boating safety course a number of years ago. I have had a long time interest in clipper ships in particular and sailing craft in general. Am eager to brush up on celestial navigation even if the rest of the world has ditched it for electronic positioning and guidance.
I am interested in transit or cruising crewing opportunities of a month or less, at the current time. Oh, yeah, I do know how to and like to swim.
Tom
