Hi all

I've been trawling boat sites for years and still looking...

Like most people I'm humming and hahing whether or not to take the step and get a yacht.

I work on Masirah Island in Oman and would be able to use it as a liveaboard.

Hope to get a lot of usefull info regarding all the usual topics like maintenance, tips and tricks, choice of yacht etc.

Derik

Hi Derik,

Welcome, question :- with the seasonal Monsoon winds that really blow hard across the North West Arabian Sea - creating good surfing seas , where would you keep your boat ?

Welcome, Derik,

While in the US military, my husband did his night diving qualifications during a trip to Oman and as I recall, also visited Masirah Island at that time.

What type of boat would you be getting? Also, you say you can live aboard there--is that because of a good marina set-up?

Fair winds,

Brenda

There are NO marina facilities here, just your standard breakwater for the ferries. It's very tidal as well with strong currents on the western side, but I've chatted to some of the locals and there are numerous little bays that provide good anchorage during the different wind seasons.
