My first attempt just went into cyberspace somewhere? So here we go again. We are Melanie, and John. We sail a 46ft cat, IMAGINE, built by Booteswerft in Germany, and designed by Simpson. The true designer is a man from the Carolinas, but Simspon refined his design, and applied his name to the boat.

I have single-handed my first boat, FROLIC a 30ft. Columbia, from SF Ca. to Cabo San Lucas Mexico, and back to SF. Many things went wrong on that adventure so long ago, but I fell deeply in love with the lifestyle.

Right after buying the cat I married Melanie, and we picked up the boat in St. Maarten. We took 6 weeks to arrive in Daytona Florida. It was a large learning curve for Melanie. She does her trick at the wheel, and loves it. Makes many of the navigation decisions, and even learned how to swim. We had one of the greatest crew members an owner can ask for, Jim.....thank you Jim where ever you are!

Since then Melanie, and I have managed the boat alone. We have spent several seasons in the Bahamas, and always returned to Florida for the hurricane season. After almost 4 years of no income I had to go back to work, and Melanie is working also. We are trying to prepare ourselves financially to move to the Philippines via the cat.

The Bahamas are so pretty, but Melanie would like to move home to the Philippines. I would like to sail there. I have spent several months travelling around the Philippines, and have fallen in love with them.

Our goal here is to meet some new friends while we are only daysailing the boat. One can never learn enough, and I have found a vast treasure trove in other peoples experiences. Looking forward getting some hellos, and how are yous.....LOL....John

Lighthouse, where about from South Africa are you? I have a wonderful cruising friend I have met from South Africa. He is now in Trinidad, and I do believe he is from Cape Town. His brother is connected to a sail loft in South Africa. You never know who knows who in this cruising world.......John
