Hello from Washington DC. I have been living aboard my Columbia 41 here on the Potomac River for the past two years. I have learned a lot about boats and myself as well. Home is here on the water. I could not imagine moving ashore. Cheers.

Welcome aboard Sam. I've wondered about staying aboard in that area for a while, how do you do it? Marinas or anchorages?

Welcome, Sam

Do you have a heater on the boat? Winters can get quite cold.

Delatbabel, I stay at Buzzards Point Marina. It is quiet here and a 35 minute bike ride to work. There is a nice anchorage nearby at the Southwest Waterfront.

JeanneP, The winters here are cold enough but last only about 2 months. I use a small electric heater to keep the aft cabin above 45F. Also, I run a dehumidifier to keep the condensation in control. Both are necessary. I sleep in an electric blanket inside a sleeping bag. I also have propane heat but turn it off when I go to bed.
