Hello, salty cruising folk. My name's Anton, I've sailed coastally weekends but no long distance cruising, and the '77 'Cherubini' Hunter 27 I bought as a "TLC Special" and presently live aboard in South Florida is my biggest boat yet...and given my financial prospects, one I'll likely be sailing for quite a while. Determined to get it in shape and take it for a LD 'shakedown' sometime in Spring '08. Still got a ways to go in learning and preparation. I'm sneaking up on 50yrs of age and I ain't getting any richer or younger...so damn the torpedoes.

I'll probably be doing more reading than contributing for a while, but I'll pipe up now and again so you know I'm still breathing...lol...Thanks

I am sure you will find this forum a useful source of konowledga and inspiration. Feel welcome and free to ask for any advice you need. There are many very knowledgable people contributing to this friendly forum.

I too am the exceedingly proud owner of a 27 feet l.o.a. monohull. Nausikaa is solid and seaworthy and capable of undertaking almost any voyage. A sister ship sailed from Sweden to Australia and another has crossed the Atlantic no less than 6 times. IMHO, better a small, solid seaworthy boat than a floating gin palace. Also, from a point of view of seaworthiness, better a smaller boat which you can afford to maintain well than a larger one which is lacking in maintenance due to economic constraints.

One of my main reasons for having a 27 footer is that I can choose to sail her myself or take a crew along. She is not too big for solo-sailing and not too small to have space for a couple of friends either.
