In Oz back in the early sixties you could buy canned american chook...biggish sort of a tin... maybe about 750ml same as the big cans of export VB you could get back in about early 70's ( OK so I was eating chook in the 60s and drinking beer in the 70's...).

It was like well you know a complete cooked chook in aspic... bonzer for when one was going on camping hols pre refrigeration......

Came from a big chook farm in america.

Can't find it in Oz any more... is it still available in america or her dominions?

To explain to non-Aussies:

Chook = Chicken.

You can get it in Costco. Its in smaller tins these days. We keep some for making sandwiches and aim to take some (lots) on our next voyage.

"Chook". That's a new one for me.

We mail-ordered canned meats from Brinkman's in large tins (24 oz, 794 g) when we began offshore cruising. The quality is very good. They also sell beef, ground beef, turkey and pork.
