We were given this recipe by June and Robert off the Shetland yacht 'Keita' which we shared some Patagonian anchorages with a few years back. A good alternative to breadmaking.
Described just now by the bosun as ' like a scone but softer in texture, best eaten straight away with soup or whatever....can be made savoury or sweet...'
16 tablespoons self raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Milk or yoghurt ( bosun sez yoghurt 'really fluffs them up') to mix... powdered milk can be used
Put flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix in milk , yoghurt or a mix of both until bound together and moist. With a little flour on your hands make patties and put into a hot frying pan with a little melted butter. Cook for 5 minutes or so each side.
Good warm as described above.....
enjoy
