Default Taylor stove burners

G'day all

I am interested in finding a couple of stove top burners for a Taylor stove model #041. I have contacted Taylor marine in the UK and they said the burners for that type of cooker are no longer make.

Does anyone on the forum know of any burners that will replace the current ones (I think they are original, they are almost as old as I am)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ken

Do a "search" of these forums (link "search" top R/H corner of this page). Enter the term: stove burners

This has been discussed before and you may get some information from those previous topics.

Good luck.

Burners, and spare parts for burners are readily available in Europe. We ordered from Germany and got excellent service. check out their website http://www.stuga-cabana.de

Thanks very much to both replies.

Admin, I did a search of the site but could not find anything relating to the burners I was looking for. I used various seach terms but they all came up with nothing really.

Hi Jenain

Would you happen to know if the site you gave me the link too has an english version at all? I cant speak any german at all but I will ask around Humpty Doo, you never know there may be a german speaker somewhere here

Many thanks for the help from you both.

Ken

This thread is a bit old, and I guess you've found your burners by now (or tossed that beautiful stove out)

The fact is that Taylor's never manufactured any burners. They are Primus burners. (a sweet swedish patent from the 1880's IIRC) google on Primus burners and you will find suppliers. I recently heard of a Portuguese manufacturer that was said to be good. Rumours or fact, I don't know. I also hear rumours (or facts?) stating that these burners are not half as good as they were in the good'ol'times.... But that goes for everything, right?

...and yes. I looove kerosene stoves, wouldn't even dream of using anything else. Taylor 031 two burners and an oven/grill. Solid brass and enamel. State of Art. Period.

Are we relics from a kinder, gentler age or merely acolytes of Victorian engineering? Probably the latter but with good reason. Is there anything more satisfying than looking at a piece of solid engineering that, if it receives but a modecum of care, will last for generations.......and look good too?

I am with you 100% on this one.

These are obtainable from Tony Herrick at Cruising Connections in Durban. The original part was made (and probably still is made) by Primus of Sweden. tony@cruisingconections.co.za

No matter what age something is made in, quality will always shine through. Mostly due to the fact that 50 yrs down the line nothing else from that age is still around. Unfortunately in the area i work in there is a lot of neglect so even some wonderful quality does not survive. It is sort of Sad that era is referred to a Victorian, there was so much more going on besides the British and the Empire they where trying to finish building. Most of the really good engineers here in the UK of that time period where either Scottish, Welsh or not from this Island (though there where some wonderful exceptions to this). I guess my real beef on it is how arrogant the Victorians where in trying to rewrite history not only of Brittan but of the World to suit their tastes and how much these days you have to prove them wrong still and do it ten times to get the point across.

Michael

My apologies for the OT rant

I'm now looking for a source of spares for my Taylor 30L stove. Does anyone have an update on USA distributors of parts?

Thanks!
