Default For Those In Peril On The Sea - Where sailing meets post-apocalyptic fiction ...

Hi All,

I’m posting this here because it may be of interest to all who sail, and especially those who (like me - the author) have spent time living and/or cruising in the Abacos, in the northern Bahamas (greetings to anyone who remembers me from my days out there in the late 1990s/early 2000s when I was doing research on whales and dolphins and living on a 35ft sailboat called Gone With The Wind in Marsh Harbour).

All the best,

Colin

For Those In Peril On The Sea is a new book from Pictish Beast Publications that combines the author’s love of sailing with a passion for post-apocalyptic fiction. Primarily set in the northern Bahamas, this book weaves its tale of post-apocalyptic survival into the local sub-tropical seascape and the sailing culture that can be found there. With its evocative use of real locations haunted by zombie-like infected and atmospheric depictions of the trials of life at sea drawn from the author’s own sailing experiences, this debut novel from Colin M. Drysdale provides a new and unusual take on both sailing fiction and the traditional post-apocalyptic and zombie genres.

If you’ve cruised the waters around the Abacos, you’ll recognise the places where this book is set but, be warned, you’ll never be able to look at them in quite the same way ever again. Even if you haven't, For Those In Peril On The Sea will make you wonder what you would do if you ever found yourself in the same situation as Bill, Rob, Jon and CJ as they struggle to survive at sea in a world where the land is no longer safe.

Available in print and as a Kindle ebook, For Those In Peril On The Sea can be purchased from Amazon: Amazon.com: For Those In Peril On The Sea eBook: Colin M. Drysdale: Kindle Store. If you want to try before you buy, you can download a PDF of the first three chapters from here: http://www.forthoseinperil.net/_files/For_Those_In_Peril_On_The_Sea_Preview.pdf.

What Reviewers Have Said About For Those In Peril On The Sea.

‘...For Those in Peril on the Sea is not a mere imitator of currently popular zombie books and films. Drysdale’s novel proves different and superior in concept as well as content. The infected are unusual in ways that make them seem terrifyingly real, and the idea of the survivors being trapped offshore is an imaginative and effective twist. While some scenes in the book can be graphic and brutal, Drysdale never allows them to become gratuitous, and each disturbing moment serves a purpose in the plot. The tone of barely suppressed terror is emphasized by the author’s willingness to write as ruthlessly as his story demands: readers will quickly learn that even those who seem most deserving of survival can quite easily fall victim to the infected. ...’ ‘Five Stars (out of five).’ - Foreword Clarion Reviews.
