I just recently replaced my prop shaft bearing. I dried her out on a Haida Gwai beach,
tapped out the sleeve the old one was in , and replaced it with a new bronze oilite bushing. Total time of operation ? About 5 minutes. Total cost of operation ?
Under $5 for the oilite bushing.
Oilite bushings last me about ten years of mostly full time cruising.

Cutting a notch in the side of the bearing housing, about half an inch long by a quarter inch wide ,lets you tap the old one out with a centre punch, without removing the shaft.
