Default Marlink - Satellite communication?

I'm looking to compare costs for Marlink's communication options for Yachts other vessels -->

Marlink, Leisure Vessels, MSS, Maritime VSAT, Maritime Satellite Communications, Fleet Broadband, Maritime Email, Maritime Broadband, Marine Satellite Communications, Marine VSAT, Ship Satellite Communications, Onboard Internet, Onboard Email, Onboar

I've been trying to find some price information and reviews, if anyone uses/knows anything about the following products:

The website suggests WaveCall, Thuraya, Iridium OpenPort (now Pilot, I believe), and Inmarsat FleetBroadband.

Also, any thoughts on differences between fixed monthly versus pay-on-demand, subscription etc?

Thanks.

I did a price comparison about two years ago, which is about 20 years in electronics industry time. Sydney boat show is coming up and I'll hit up the vendors and update it when that happens, probably I will put it on the wiki at that point. If anyone else has data points I'll be happy to collate them.

Default Electrical : generators and electrical

Hi all

I own a Cal Cruising 46. It came with a MASE 5501 genset ( yanmar diesel generator )
Next, 4 years ago I had installed a XANTREX RS 3000, a pure sine wave charger/inverter. My installer then
Connected it to a Xantrex 250 amp 3 battery bank COMBINER to regulate charging

NOW THE PROBLEM IS, my generator is NOT charging the house bats!
Shore power and running the boats engine work fine
And the genset is not sending an error message. So I know
The generator is working fine

I had checked all connections. All looks good and tight, no sign of rusting or corrosion

What could be wrong ?

Not knowing the wiring makes it a bit difficult for an electrical neophyte such as me. Could the problem be in your battery switch? Have you placed a meter across the genny to determine the output?

Again I am an electrical waste of space, but I would suspect corrosion or a loose connection in the battery switch or a buggered fuse...or a clagged diode somewhere.

Sorry to be of little help, but I expect the cavalry will arrive soon in the form of Delatbabel or Haiqu.

The golden rule of electrical problems is this:

It's likely to be a connection problem, so check all of your connections. If the connections all look good, then it's likely to be a connection problem, so check all of your connections.

Follow the pathways from the genset to the house batteries and check every connection along the way.
