Default Bruce vs. Claw

I've always wondered what makes a Bruce anchor special. Why is it so much more expensive than a generic claw anchor..
Recently I purchased a 33lb sea choice brand claw for $80 shipped off the Internet... Then I was down at the marine consignment shop and they had a 33lb Bruce for $100... So I couldn't help myself. Here they are side by side. Both 33lb claw types... The Bruce definitely has a better finish. The search choice claw is more like painted and I doubt will hold up very well. The shank on the Bruce is 26 inches the sea choice 24 1/14. The flukes on the Bruce are 17 inches the sea choice 151/4.

A marginal difference probably but for those wondering like I always did now you know.

tiny differences, eh?

People do become familiar with one brand and then recommend that brand. Quality issues are important though and it sounds like you're seeing differences there, too.

How's it going otherwise with you guys?

We are good. Still stuck in RI looking for a weather window to shoot straight to the Caribbean.... But just don't think we will get it anytime soon.. So probably going to start South via long island sound this weekend.

... Tried to upload pics of the two anchors side by side but am on a smartphone and they don't want to go... Will try again later on a laptop.
