Default Localized forum for Hong Kong (please)

We are a group of boaters in Hong Kong, looking for a forum (like this) where we could have a localized Hong Kong specific forum.

There is so much particular detail to Hong Kong that it needs its own section (please).

Thank you

Hi there and welcome. We would be very pleased for you to operate within our Cruiser Log. If you look through our forum, you will notice it is respectful and absent of the criticisms which infect many. We would not support a closed forum within the forum, but for any other means of activity, we will be happy to help.

Thank you, admiral Auzzee

Looking through the forums - what happened? It seems like it died down several years ago, with only a few posts a month now.

I have never run a forum in particular so I don't know how much work is involved setting it up - but if it is not too hard, then I suggest a portfolio of regional forums: Not just for Hong Kong, but for other main activity areas around the world.

The strength of a forum (compared to social media and chat/messaging media) is not only that you can search it but mainly the "filtering" that each user can choose which areas of interest they want to read about. In the more linear FB and Whatsapp media - it's all one long string of information. Great for sharing pictures and events (F and great for urgent messages (new wreck, engine stalled and need a tow etc).

With that last paragraph in mind, localized forums will also enable area specific information to be shared that will normally not be of any interest to people in other areas. Hence regional forums ...

Reading your post again - we are not looking for a closed forum, but rather a separate forum.

In the main overview of forums, I suggest a section called "Regional Forums". Under that, Hong Kong - and many other areas - as required. Could even be with subsections like Australia: Sydney, Melbourne etc. (depending on how much activity there is)

Many other larger forums of other interests has such regional sections. For cruising/boating, each member could then focus on those local issues like where to find parts and services, slips/moorings available, how to get a local license and so on.

We are also looking at a Wiki (for sharing places to anchor/fish/dive/swim etc, but also information about regulations related to getting a local sailing license), and looking at your cruiserswiki.org - except that one seems like it's not active?

I am happy to volunteer as moderator/editor for both forum and wiki if needed. But we need to establish first if it will be here - or another forum.

Thank you

And let me be more specific here - "regional forums" are already here as such, as this is "SE Asia, The Red Sea & Indian Ocean" - but it's way too wide.

Hong Kong is so particular and different that it needs its own forum.
