Pleased to advise that Cruiser Log Member - Delivery Skipper JohnT and another Delivery Skipper Miles Webb arrived safely with their respective crews in Port Victoria, Mahe the Seychelles Friday 12th June.

The Leopard 46 and the Leopard 40 catamarans left Capetown South Africa on the 4th May, encountering rough seas and head winds for most of the 1st leg to Le Reunion. The 2nd leg provided good sailing winds and favorable seas all the way to the Seychelles - this leg also required a diversion to avoid areas were Somali Pirates had been active in May.

Thanks to Radio Hams in South Africa for monitoring progress and also for the Coalition Navies presence in the waters infected by pirates.

Richard

Richard,

Thanks for posting the report of our safe arrival in Mahe.

To other readers,

My thanks to Richard (MMNETSEA) with whom I stayed in contact the entire trip and who provided weather forecasting and routing as well as the contact with the Coalition naval forces during the delivery, sometimes under very trying conditions. I must admit that the Indian Ocean is not my favourite one to sail in – especially in a catamaran sailing against the wind and current!

And a warning to those stopping in Reunion – beware of theft off your boat! I had the unfortunate experience of being boarded in the marina, whilst asleep, by a bunch of youngsters (15/16 years old) who got away with my laptop and back-up GPS. The humorous side of the incident is that they used bicycles as their getaway mode of transport – too fast for an old sod like myself to catch.
