Hello - I'm new to this board - DOMINO is currently in Brazil but will need to be hauled out for beaching skegs refit. Anyone knows of a reputable yard in the Carribean to haul a 7.10 meter wide cat out of the water? Our haul out in Brazil was a disaster... follow us on http://dominocatamaran.blogspot.com

Marie,

WOW, the caribbean is a big area. Where to start????

Trinidad has several options, and would be your closest opportunity. Peake's has just about everything you want.

http://www.peakeyachts.com/

or

http://www.multihullcompany.com/.

A place to research other options would be the ads in the monthly magazine "Caribbean Compass"

Can be viewed online or download the PDF

http://www.caribbeancompass.com/

Have fun exploring the caribbean.

Rick

i have a small cat with 19 ft beam but with your beam you could haul at rodney bay marina in st lucia. they are nice and easy to deal with but not cheap. i think prickly bay marina in grenada could haul you and they seem alright. i have hauled in st martin but wasnt great for storing the boat but just for a haulout would be good. they haul mainly with cranes but have good marine stores

Not too many yards can handle 7 meter beam (DEVA is the same) but here are some:

Antigua Slipway-- has trailerlift w padded bunks-- expensive

St Maarten Shipyard-- big travelift.

Curacao Marine-- not as expensive, but thorny upwind path if you want to return to Antilles after

Both Peakes and Powerboats can handle you in Trini

Aikane (Multihull Co base) marine in Trini is very experienced with multihulls, but their trailer lift has fixed 11' beam, so must fit under the bridgedeck w no obstructions at the points of contact of the longitudinal rails of the trailer lift.

St Kitts Marine Works is a new yard with brand new 150 ton Travelift, and does not charge the usual 150% multihull surcharge, making them the cheapest catamaran haulout in the Caribbean.

Contacts and emails on request.

Thanks for all your suggestions. We ended up hauling out at PEAKE's in Chaguaramas. Their 150 ton travelift is wonderful and the staff was excellent at handling the haulout. Repairs are in good hands (making sure to ask several bids, though)... internet is lousy, but what ca you do? Overall, PEAKE's is a good place to be at.
