Monocats: Leading Edge Or Bleeding Edge

Forward they are like a traditional yacht, aft they have the twin sterns of a multihull and bulb keel. The claim is monocats have excellent directional control because of the forward retractable canard foil and the twin rudders. As a consequence of this blending of design features, monocats sails to windward with the motion and high angles and speed of the performance keelboat, and yet reaches like a catamaran. With wide beam and catamaran sterns the maximum heel is restricted to just 6 degrees, and yet still fits in a monohull marina berth.
