Default Lake superior out to anywhere, really

I'm new to these forums but am looking to get aboard a vessel and do some crew work. I just graduated from university with a physics degree and am interested in learning any and everything about sailing and crewing ships, big and small. I have done some lake sailing and small watercraft type stuff, so am fairly new to this whole thing. I'd love to gain more experience and help people out along the way though! I love cooking, reading, and enjoy physical activity of all sorts. Currently I'm in Minneapolis, MN but am looking to get to a large body of water to start sailing. I'll be available anytime after September 10th. Easiest thing for me would be to set sail from Lake Superior and head out into the great unknown.

I'm a quick learner and looking for new things! Does anyone need beginner's help aboard their craft?

I imagine you'd have better luck heading South to a seaport in the fall. I imagine not may cruisers will be heading up the Saint Laurence Seaway in fall weather. Perhaps in summer they would be.

Good luck!

Awesome thanks for the tip! I'm pretty new to all this nautical stuff, so that hint was quite helpful! What do you think port traffic would be like along the NE or NW coasts of the US during the fall?
