Hi there,
How long are you planning on cruising Thailand for? And when will you be departing - early April or end of April - as I'm landlocked until mid-April then free as a bird. I'm a 39 year old Brit currently in Melbourne, recently changed from working in the corporate world to being a personal trainer but would like to explore Thai Islands & coast - your cruise sounds like a good adventure... I've started sailing late in my life, learnt in dinghys and then passed my competent crew cert on a 40' S&S with 5 days coastal cruising. I can hold a course in a rough straight line, and my cooking is nearly edible - but still have mountains to learn about sailing. All the best, John |

Hi,
My name is Russ, and I would be quite interested in joining you for around a month. Im currently working in a ski resort in France, but will be available mid-April onwards. I have about 8 weeks sailing under my belt, (incl 3 weeks in Indonesia) and have helped on a number of yacht deliveries. I have my ICC (power), RYA day skip, and VHF certs, so can hold a watch etc and very comfortable with GPS etc. However, both pure sailing and cooking skills need some attention, especially the latter ! Yes, I'm 49, but always out for a laugh, and have spent a number months on and off in Thailand (business related) so I know the climate and people well. Would be grateful if you tell me a bit more about your plans, and timing, and anything else I might find interesting, either through this site or my email russ.mcdermid 'at' virgin.net. I will also gladly provide more info about me at that stage. Rgds. |

Hello, My name is James. I recently found out about this site from a friend and am very interested in the unique oppurtunity to have an experience like this. I currently live in Iowa, building wind turbines. I am nearing completion of my current project and want to do some more traveling. I have limited sailing experience, but I am a very quick learner and hard worker. I'm a laid back guy, 24, college graduate. Experienced traveler, I just did NZ and Australia last year and am hoping to get back out on an adventure. Please let me know if I would be a good candidate for your voyage or if you have any other insight into finding a crew to sail with.
Thanks! James |

Hello there!
I guess I should have checked this forum before posting my own thread looking for a boat today. It turns out I am looking to learn how to sail this April during my "summer" vacation from school teaching. I am currently in Bangkok, and I have official vacation from 3 April to 18 April, though I could probably extend that in either direction a little bit, if need be. Please take a look at the post I made and see if you think I might be a worthwhile addition to your crew: http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11742 (just to sell myself a little bit here, I am a good cook and I am a quick learner, so if you want some tasty variety in your galley as well as someone who will quickly become helpful, I'm your man) If you do think so, feel free to contact me. I'd appreciate knowing a few more details of your plans as well, such as dates, islands you plan on hitting (I'm guessing down around Ko Lantaa and Ko Phi Phi and all that), where you plan to embark from, etc.. Looking forward to hopefully hearing from you. Cheers, Alex |

Hello,
Oh yea, Just what I am looking for. Very capable, easy going. I can get along with a wide variety of folks and have lots of worldly experience. Can crank it up for fun or spend some quiet time enjoying the sites. My sailing experience is limited to a week long live aboard school but I am an Instrument rated private pilot so the sailing expertise will come quickly. I am also an avid white water kayaker, advanced scuba diver, mountain biker, golfer, mountain climber ect. If it is fun I have done it. I enjoy hard work, am a great cook, and can fix anything. Repairing boat systems would be a breeze as I have owned a 60' house boat for many years and have personally updated /maintained the electrical, plumbing and propulsion systems. I am looking for some real blue water sailing, a competent captain, a seaworthy vessel and some off the beaten path adventure. A private bunk and a boat on the clean side would be nice. Contact me for more info on myself. Good to go after March 25th. You can also call me at 303-888-0505. Thx. |
