Hi there,

We currently live in cold New England, and are researching live aboard marinas in Puerto Rico. We can't find any information and was hoping that some of the veterans in the boating world would be able to help us. Any information you could provide would be of paramount assistance to us. Thanks so much!

Welcome aboard. I'm sure that someone here will be able to assist with the information you require.

Make yourself at home.

Hello Stephanie, I live in cold 'Old' England (but I'm in warm Portugal now) http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.gif

I was sailed to Puerto Rico in 2007 so this information may be a little out of date, and please excuse the rambling description as I don't have the Caribbean charts aboard this voyage.

Sailing into San Juan with the castle, El Morro? on your port hand then turn to port past La Puntilla, I remember seeing US Coast Guard vessels moored there on the port hand, follow the canal up past the cruise liner berths and at the top of the canal (can't remember it's Spanish name) you will find 'Club Nautico San Juan' on the port hand. The yacht anchorage is just off there and there is a small marina too, not Club Nautico which I recall was full of game fishing boats, but a separate marina. I used to leave my dinghy there when I went ashore. There were quite a few people (locals) who I'm sure were living aboard in the marina.

When you look at a chart, I think it was Puerta De Tierra to port and Isla Grande to starboard as you go up the canal, the little marina is right at the end by the anchorage. Regards Saxon. http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Just had a thought Stephanie...in addition to the above info, if you look at a post entitled ...iso information on Tom Colvin Gazelles...it's about 13 posts down in the "Cruising" section. I posted a photo of the 'canal' in San Juan. Where that big cruise ship is in the centre of the photo, is where you come from to the anchorage. The photo was actually taken from the anchorage looking back down the canal. Hope it gives you an idea of what to expect... http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Saxon.
