Planning a trip south from Key West in late February 2010 - looking for current information, advice, etc.

Hi

I am also trying to get to Belize from Florida, possibly with a 60ft cat (not Mine) leaving 12th Feb.

However I haven't heard from them for more than a week so not confirmed. They are staying in Belize, so I will have to fly back to Miami.

Perhaps we can connect somewhere, I'd love to see how you've set up for solo handling.

I plan to buy my own boat in Florida, probably next spring at this rate, and take it to Belize. I have RYA Day Skipper, but little sailing experience, so I'm just trying to get some experience in the area before buying.

I haven't found much wrt sailing in the Gulf, but these two are interesting if you haven't seen them:

http://ambergriscaye.com/xaloc/ 30' Cat from Florida via Cuba

http://turtleislands.net/tmc/default.html 16' cat !! from W coast Mexico

If you are US citizen ?? you'll be going across to Isla Mujeres avoiding Cuba?

Good luck!

Looking at a late February departure - trying to get the paperwork, charts, etc together. Yes, I will be avoiding Cuba. Keep in touch, maybe we can hook up somewhere
