Hi,

I'm anchored at La Linea, Spain, right next to Gibraltar, in what has always been a large, well used and sheltered anchorage. This place has been a good stop off point for both inward and outward traffic through the Straits.

The news is that in 3 or 4 months all yachts will be kicked out of the anchorage as a new marina development is due to take place.

For anyone heading here now things are not too friendly with the small marina that is here. You have to pay 5 euros for them to watch you dinghy for the day whilst you are ashore, and that is out of the water, so you have to drag it out. You also have to pay them to use their water supplies, how much I'm unsure.

There is a place to leave your dinghy along side of the bay when you want to go ashore but the place is full of underwater obstacles and the risk of theft is huge.

However, if you are arriving in a team and can be dropped off, also have enough basic supplies to last you, it is still a decent anchorage. Free wifi can be picked up close to the marina (ha ha!).

Hope this report was of some use.

DB
