Default Leisurely cruising the bahamas

Hi,
Im looking for longterm or intermittent crew. Join anytime
Im planning to buy a well equipped 41.5 Morgan Out Island / Center Cockpit , Sloop. presently in Melbourne, Florida. We would prepare/provision, the boat from Mid October, until ready then cross over to the Bahamas, and spend up 6-7 months cruising the Keyes, in the warm water and sunshine. Im a diving instructor so would be doing the same, and could teach you if you wanted. Lots of time for snorkeling, diving, fishing, sun bathing, meeting the lovely natives of the Bahamas. This will be leisurely cruising taking lots of time for play, and exploring I Will have occasional guests (friends) and you may do so as well
The boat will sleep 4-6 comfortably and not strain the systems. I would want mature couples and /or singles. You should be non smoker, fit, agile openminded, free-spirited , fun , willing to do the duties associated with cruising: cooking, cleaning, watches, eat community meals/food ( as healthy as possible with caught fish, lobsters, conch, etc), contribute to the cruising kitty for everyday boat expenses ( food, water, propane, gas (dinghy/compressor), etc, buy your own drinks (no heavy drinkers or drug users, Please). Im 36 yrs clean and sober so will hope to meet others in AA for impromptu meetings You should like all kinds of music, especially reggae / junkanoo
This could turn into a longer trip around the Caribbean if feasible
John

Default Hi John

Have you found crew?

I am a life long sailer, age 61, in really good shape. Recently semi-retired and have time to do some cruising. Can pay my own way, within reason. I have a great wife who indulges my love of saiingand two grown up kids.

I have experience in cruising numerous boats since I was a child from Maine to Cape Cod but also have chartered in Caribbean and Florida. Have also done lots of competitive sailing on smaller boats. Have owned a Pearson 32 and a Catalina 30. Took my third grade teacher out on my sunfish!

I do not smoke and drink a little but never very much. I like just about everything about cruising, especially with good company. Know quite a bit about cruising boats and very willing to help maintain and repair. Also, really like to cook (and eat). Mostly, happy to keep it simple.

Thanks for considering. Andy

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your reply. I haven't purchased the boat yet. I was hoping to find a nice mixed crew, of mature "retiree's". I have several women interested and interesting. I had hoped to find a first "mate" for my self, and then others who would cycle in and out as the journey progressed. I also hope that some of my sailing friends will join me for legs.
When would you be able to begin. I have a couple of medical issues that I have to take care, this next week then I will decide if I can still do the cruising lifestyle.

Stay in touch and I will , too. Does your wife enjoy sailing?
John
