Got a good recommendation for a sea library? What books are a must for the cruising life?

I just finished Capable Cruiser, by the Pardeys. Classic. Definitely on my 'must' list.

Any other good recommendations? Planning to read all the Pardey, Roth, Hiscock, Cornell books but always looking for more.

Have you looked through the LIVEABOARD forum group? One forum there is SHIP'S LIBRARY, and there is a topic on recommended cruising books, http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/ind...howtopic=16713

Great book!

You must have forgotten that you did this review and asked the same question last month!

Thanks for the review. Please feel free to contribute additional reviews here on the forum. Please try to avoid just posting a link to an outside site since that doesn't encourage discussion. This is the Ship's Library area of the forum http://www.cruiserlog.com/forums/index.php?showforum=36

Fair winds,

If you are looking for great books to read while cruising rather than great books about cruising, I recommend Gibbons "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire."

The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I found an edition where the 6 volumes were condensed to three books. There is a huge amount of material in a small package which was key to me when I was reading it. The amount of space available for personal items was very limited. The books were inexpensive and I gave each away as I finished them.

If you want a classic (that I think all should read), get the e-book edition of Thucydides History of the Peloponnesian War History of the Peloponnesian War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
