Besides this SE ASIA cruiser's net, there are also TWO amateur radio nets operating from the east coast of Africa covering the Indian Ocean for cruisers to be aware of.

These two nets make use of a forum board on the INDIAN OCEAN SAILING FORUMS at http://www.cruisingconnections.co.za/forum...asp?FORUM_ID=23

Please follow the above link for the nets' details and discussions on the region.

Visit the INDIAN OCEAN SAILING/CRUISING discussion forum at:

The 2008/09 "season".

A large fleet of cruisers have safely negotiated this route this season. They have enjoyed the region and some have stayed on for the year to do maintenance and/or see more of the inland splendours of southern Africa.

A much larger fleet of cruising yachts is expected next year.

The Indian Ocean crossing "season" is upon us once again. It is my sincere wish that circumnavigators will seriously consider the current very real dangers associated with the Red Sea route (as it is right now) - possibly life-threatening to themselves as well as their crew. PLEASE make your decision wisely!

Safe passage!
