Well guys, I finally did it. I took a new job down in SoCal and will be living aboard the boat starting in December!
I can't wait...it's been many years since we lived on the boat.

Thanks Richard!
It has taken a lot of patience to finally get this opportunity to move back South just in time for the final preparation for the voyage. I'll be managing a large team of engineers on a two year project to develop a lithium-ion hybrid vehicle as a cooperative effort between a major US automotive company and a German automotive company. The company involved also owns a solar panel manufacturering operation in Germany which will come in handy when I outfit my boat with solar. If I can get some deals without getting in trouble, I'll let you guys know.

This should be the last one before we leave. Lori is excited to live on the boat and be back in SoCal. Northern Cal hasn't been our cup-o-tea.

Hi Ken and Lori,
Welcome back.
When I returned to living aboard, I initially felt it would be difficult to make the adjustment. However, it's like losing your favourite pair of shorts and finding them at a later date. It just feels good...comfortable and the stress of living is no longer in such sharp focus.

We went to lunch today and sat there wishing we were back in Long Beach on the boat already. The move can't happen fast enough. All of our friends are live aboards and members of the yacht club. We've been living in a 1 bedroom apartment for 6 months in anticipation of this new job happening. Last month it seemed like it might not happen, then suddenly I got the good news phone call! A 24 month project near the boat...how perfect.
Our hope is to be like Jeanep and her husband....leave with plans to return if we feel like it...not because we must.

Peter was a salesman, I worked in the financial services industry - the easiest description of what I did was systems analyst. We started real estate development on the side, and that gave us the long-term income that enabled us to take off as early as we did.
We've been incredibly lucky in our lives.

How long did you spend planning your cruise? Did you detail your planned route, or simply have a general plan for where you wanted to go?

I am very interested in the flexable solar panels and also the thin stick on panels being developed and marketed by this outfit. I believe this advance will really change the way DC juice is supplied from the tops of biminis and radar arches. See http://www.uni-solar.com/interior.asp?id=33
