Hi/hello all

We are not (unfortunately) cruising or permanent liveaboards yet but continue to read and research so this forum is great to read. We have been long-term members of UK fora but it is very interesting to get a more international view on things.

We have had our "wonder boat" (Rival 41) for 12 years now and are on our second re-fit - first done when we got the boat and added all those things we thought we needed - some have been brilliant and some significantly less so. However we have been lucky enough to live aboard for entire summers and part of winters so perhaps we can contribute to some of the threads (intend to go the "what would you put in your galley" thread once I've introduced myself !).

The second re-fit is a long list of desirables, some/many of which are probably beyond our budget (well, courtesy of Gordon Brown and his cohorts) with a plan to head off in about 18 months time. So we shall be fascinated to see what others do. Our initial plan is to go north (Scotland and the Baltic) but that depends on which way the wind blows.

Best wishes to all you cruisers and liveaboards - and, right now, deeply jealous of those Down Under where summer has arrived!

P

Welcome.

We did enjoy the Baltic, and the canals in the Netherlands, and, and, and if we had known just how great a time we would have, I think I would have tried harder to stay on that side of the Atlantic for another year. Alas, it was not meant to be for us, but you're already there!

Ask away. And tell us EVERYTHING! We never tire of hearing how others do it.

Fair winds,

J
