Default Finally some answers from Garmin about Navionics acquisition

Well we finally have some answers about the direction that Garmin plans to go with their Navionics acquisition. At the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show today they announced that Garmin will be releasing a new cartography product that features Navionics data. From the sounds of it, it will be a win-win for both Navionics users and Garmin users: https://www.navionics.com/usa/blog/p...min_blog_grimm

Good to hear that Garmin will continue to make decisions which will benefit sailors. We didn't make the Fort Lauderdale show this year. For the last two years it was a little flat...unless you are the sort of person who can afford to buy a new French or South African catamaran for a squillion dollars. It seem the Miami show was similar...although it was good for those with an interest in cruising power boats.

I hope you enjoyed it all the same. In my opinion the best boat show in Florida is held at St Petersburg. We tried to make it to the Baltimore show this year, but life interrupted. With any luck our plans to get to the show in Annapolis will work next year.

We recently chartered in Desolation Sound. We had chosen a Jenneau, which turned out to be less of a boat that we were promised. So we reluctantly made the switch to the only other boat available. It was an older CHB Taiwanese built trawler. As much as I prefer not to say it, we had an absilute ball.

So next time we feel the need to trade, weare thinking of a trawler. Just like Jeanne P and he beloved Watermelon. Who wudda thort?

I'm surprised they actually went with a common sense product like that. Garmin did a great job with the Navionics acquisition and I bet it'll pay dividends.
