Thumbs up

I received an email that introduced me to the "Anchor Rescue". This appears to be a really good product that can be useful to cruisers.

ANCHOR RESCUE

Does anyone have one and can comment on it?

This is interesting but I would like to see the results of independent testing or anecdotes from users.

Until I know more, I would worry about possible fouling of the tether line. Could this line not increase the risk of your anchor fastening? The line itself could fasten on a rocky outcrop when the anchor without the line might not have.

Interesting though. I will be watching this one.

I struggle to think what advantage it might have over a regular tripping line but have an open mind and would equally like to hear from impartial users..........

Everything that helps avoiding tripping lines on (crowded) anchorages is a blessing!

And everything that helps keeping the diving gear in the locker is an even greater blessing!

Keep us informed.

I saw this at the Newport Boat Show. I think the Anchor Rescue is a neat idea. I have to agree with Aquaria it seems worth it.

Right from the start, let me say that I am a principal in the company that makes AnchorRescue. I have no intention of making a pitch but am very happy to answer any questions that are directed to me. As a commercial interest, I understand the fine line I must walk on these forums and expect you will let me know if I stray.

Regards, Richard

Welcome Richard. It is good to have you here at CruiserLog.

Thanks for your post and for your sensitivity regarding "the fine line".

I am sure folks will be along soon with many questions.

Welcome aboard Richard. Good to have a "direct line" to answer a few questions.

Could this be a concern?

With regard to the question of fouling the tether.

The short answer is yes, the tether could snag a feature on the bottom. Having said that, I should note that we have tried to minimize that possibility by taking the slack out of the tether with a cable tie at the shank end. (This is not made clear on the web page and we will address that.) Additional cable ties along the shank might be warranted in particularly foul anchorages. These cable ties break during the retrieval of a fouled anchor.

We considered special clips to position the tether along the top of the shank but that seemed to be more complicated than it was worth considering the expected low probability of snagging the tether. We will revisit this if warranted. This routing of the tether can also be accomplished with conventional cable ties and I will be happy to give the details if anyone is interested.

I hope this helped and I thank you for the question.

Richard
